A keyboard for iPhone

Say it your way.
Send it in any language.

Voiceboard is a keyboard you talk to. Speak in Cantonese, English or nine other languages, then send it as you said it, translated, or rewritten to sound just right. It works in every app.

How it works

Talk, check, send.

iOS doesn't let keyboards use the microphone, so the Voiceboard app does the listening and the keyboard does the rest.

Start a voice session

Open Voiceboard once. It keeps a voice session on in the background, so the keyboard can hear you in any app.

Switch keyboards and talk

Tap 🌐 to switch to Voiceboard, then tap the mic, or hold it while you speak.

Check the draft, then insert

Your words appear in the text field as a draft. Change the style, say what to fix, or type over it, then send.

Features

Built for the way people really talk.

Mixed languages, slang, half-finished sentences: Voiceboard turns them into the message you meant to write.

Cantonese that actually works

Speak colloquial Cantonese, particles, slang and English words included, and get it back as written Cantonese, standard written Chinese, or a natural translation.

You say老細今日好chur,要搞掂埋份report先收得工
You sendThe boss is really piling it on today. I have to finish the report before I can leave.

Translate as you speak

Talk in one language and send in another. Translation runs on your iPhone, with no internet needed once a language is downloaded.

Say what to change

“Make it Saturday.” “Shorter.” “More polite.” Change the draft by voice or with one tap, and undo any step.

Private by default

Without Pro, speech recognition, translation and rewriting all run on your iPhone. Voiceboard never records what you type.

A full keyboard, too

Swipe for letters and emoji, and edit the draft with the keys before you send it.

Styles for every chat

Rewrite the same message for your boss, your group chat or your grandma.

Questions

Good to know

Why does the keyboard need Full Access?

Full Access lets the keyboard talk to the Voiceboard app, which does the listening. iOS warns that a keyboard with Full Access could send what you type; Voiceboard doesn't record your typing, and your messages leave your iPhone only when you use Pro.

Why is the microphone indicator on?

iOS doesn't let keyboards use the microphone, so the Voiceboard app keeps a voice session running in the background. iOS shows the indicator while it's on. Voiceboard only uses what it hears after you tap the mic, and the session ends by itself after a while without use.

Does it work offline?

Yes, without Pro. Once the speech model and translation languages are downloaded, dictation and translation work with no connection. Pro needs the internet.

What happens to my voice with Pro?

Your recording is streamed to our speech provider to be transcribed, and isn't stored by Voiceboard. See the privacy policy for the details.

What if I run out of Pro minutes?

Voiceboard switches to the free on-device services and tells you. Your minutes refill on your renewal date, or you can buy more or change plan in the app.
